A smarter approach to
whole-school literacy in a single cost-effective platform

With reading engagement falling and literacy gaps continuing to widen, there has never been a more important time to improve literacy outcomes for every student.

The Day combines engaging real-world content, differentiated reading levels and automated assessment in one scalable platform.

Students are motivated to read, teachers save time, and your SLT gets the data it needs to monitor progress, target intervention and demonstrate impact across the whole school.

Our new, time-saving assessment tools track engagement, reading proficiency and real-world knowledge across students, classes and year groups.

“With low reading engagement and wide variation in reading proficiency, The Day provides excellent resources for encouraging teenagers of all abilities to read about topics relevant to them.”

Prof. Jessie Ricketts, Royal Holloway, University of London

How The Day is designed to support a whole-school literacy strategy

Engage every student

The Day's journalists write daily topical news stories students want to read. Student agency sparks curiosity, building reading enjoyment.

Build literacy across the curriculum

Students read, think and debate, developing literacy, critical thinking and oracy across the curriculum.

With new time saving assessment tools

New, easy-to-use tools track engagement, reading proficiency, critical thinking and real-world knowledge.

With real student outcomes

From reluctant readers to confident communicators. Supports reading engagement, comprehension, critical thinking and real-world knowledge.

With the support teachers need

Every student can access stories at their reading level with ready-to-use, topical structured discussions and debates. Across English, PSHCE, subject lessons and homework.

For evidence and impact at scale

Turn engagement into evidence. Track progress over time, identify students who need support and demonstrate impact through class, year-group and whole-school reporting.

Driving whole-school literacy at Paignton Academy

Paignton Academy adopted The Day as part of its whole-school reading strategy, embedding it into twice-weekly KS3 tutor sessions to develop reading, vocabulary, oracy and critical thinking.

After 12 months:

56% of students said they were reading more than before

+8% increase in KS3 students with a reading age above 13

+5% increase in KS3 students with a reading age above 16

“The Day is now an integral part of our extended tutor sessions and has proved to be an invaluable resource.”
